ABOUT TRAVELIN' MK
My name is Mary Kate and I LOVE to travel... like every other person on the planet, right? One thing that I love about travel is that there are so many ways to enjoy it. Budget, luxurious, adventurous, relaxing, nature or city goers alike, there are options for everyone. I have traveled in every form, from staying at hostels in Europe and Asia to the 5-star island hotels and safari lodges. I believe there are times to splurge and times to save, times to relax with friends on a beach, and times when you feel like you need a vacation after your travels. My goal with this travel blog is to share my experiences and any helpful tips I have learned along the way.

My husband and I got married in October 2022, and we have traveled to 14 countries and lived in 4 states in the last 2 years together. He works remotely and I work as a travel nurse which has allowed us to see a lot of the U.S. while squeezing in as many international trips as possible. I think being a travel nurse allows me to have a unique insight into travel blogging because I am not someone who directly benefits from working in the industry but still travels often. I am not the best photographer or an artsy travel influencer. However, my type-A nursing personality allows me to thoroughly research the best activities, accommodations, restaurants, and more to share with anyone who could benefit. I'm the type of person who will read every review for 15 different kayak tours to decide which company is ultimately the best for what I'm looking for. I'm the type of person to read 20 different travel blogs and trip advisor accounts about a destination before even deciding if it's the trip I want to take or when I want to visit that country. I'm the type of person who spends hours searching platforms like VRBO, Airbnb, booking / hotels.com, Pinterest blogs, and Google to find the best boutique hotel, local bed-and-breakfast, or epic glampsites. I enjoy searching every online resource to find the best place to stay, the best times to travel, and even when to book activities or restaurant reservations based on the sunrise and sunset of the exact location and date we are traveling. Thorough, that is the type of travel planner that I am and the travel blogger I hope to be. I care about being respectful when traveling to different countries just as much as I care about dining at the best restaurant. I hope my helpful tips, itineraries, and other travel blog posts are helpful to many.
